What is Freemium?

The term freemium is the name of a business model. It is a combination of two words: free and premium.

This business model works like this - you give a special software product version for free to a large group of users, and then sell the premium version or service to a smaller fraction of the user base.

Many companies use this business model, including Microsoft and Google.
